As a vegetarian living in America, I would be rich if I had a dollar for every time I have been asked, "Where do you get your protein?" Many times I field the question from loved ones and other times from antagonists but in both cases they are sure that a plant based diet cannot provide this essential building block of life. They falsely assume that only animal flesh and animal by-products provide an adequate source of protein.
In reality, however, this is a myth propagated by the folks who stand to gain huge profits by the factory farm raising, slaughter, and distribution of animal flesh and their by products.
Let's all get something straight once and for all. You do not have any need whatsoever for protein. Protein in itself will not aid in one single bodily function. What you do need desperately are amino acids which are readily available for immediate use by the body.
Before protein can provide any needed function in your body it must first be broken down into an amino acid. It is only then that the amino acids are free to go to work as they were created to do. Breaking down of the protein into a usable amino acid is an expenditure of energy but not a gain. The body must exert much energy in order to assimilate these protein molecules because they are very difficult to break down. Therefore your supposed need for animal protein is just a myth.
Every plant food whether fruit or vegetable is loaded with amino acids in its raw, uncooked state. These foods need no expenditure of energy to convert them from protein to amino acid. When you opt for raw plant food, the middleman (protein) is cut out and your body readily puts the amino acids to work just as nature intended.
Raw plant food is loaded with essential enzymes. Enzymes are the very life of your body. When raw foods are eaten the enzymes are not destroyed as is the case with cooking. Enzymes are simply complex chains of amino acids. Every plant based food you consume in an uncooked state is loaded with these life giving enzymes.
Enzymes are responsible for every function in your body. The difference between a corpse and a living being is the enzymes. A dead person might have an abundance of protein, antioxidants, calcium, and other necessary nutrients in the body but enzymes are the life force that they are missing. It is non other than these enzymes which convert vitamins, minerals, and protein into a form that the body can use and thereby sustain life. No one knows exactly what this life giving force in the enzymes is, but nevertheless we do know about their absolute necessity in the business of generating life.
Do you believe that your diet alone can increase muscle mass and decrease body fat even without exercise or weight training? It can! Enzymes are the answer. Although cooking destroys enzymes, when plant foods are eaten raw these enzymes are the building blocks of life. Enzymes are the means by which vitamins and minerals become useful to the body.
Raw fruit and vegetables can and will heal your body. Your body, and specifically your immune system, knows more about healing than all the doctors on the planet combined. A healthy immune system is the only doctor you need. And since your doctor might very well know no other means of eradicating a disease except invasive surgery and since he or she might be clueless when it comes to a holistic way of healing having never been introduced to it in med school, why wouldn't you opt for a full recovery the natural way? Full recovery can never be realized when radiation or chemotherapy are the treatment.
If you are like many who think that you will become weak and sickly from a raw plant based diet then I invite you to go down to the local zoo and consider a gorilla for instance. You will need a whole lot of protein shakes and even more guts to enter that cage and pit your high protein animal based diet against the gorillas raw plant food diet in a test of brute strength. If however you are able to stand toe to toe with that gorilla for sixty seconds, I promise I will apologize to everyone who will listen, withdraw this blog, and start promoting the benefits of eating animals. Until then I will keep doing what I am doing and hopefully raising awareness that not only is eating animals a cruel and disgusting ritual, and not only is the raising of them horrible for the environment, but it is also a terribly unhealthy practice.
My advice, which is backed up by a growing number of medical doctors and scientists as well as by the most comprehensive and objective studies, is to get healthy the natural way through nutrition and thereby spare yourself the anguish and expense of invasive surgery that destroys instead of heals.
